Certainly one of my favorite pages I’ve completed recently. I really love how the water came out & the colors all flow together so nicely!! Honestly one of my favorite things about doing this comic is getting to paint water
Patrons read 3 weeks ahead and get access to WIPs!
I’m also thinking of expanding things I offer on Patreon, but I don’t really know what folks are interested in! I’m thinking about maybe
- more patreon-exclusive art/illustrations/comics
- on that note, potentially. NSFW patreon exclusive art??? (obviously for 18+ patrons only)
- more early-access art (so non patrons still get to see it but patrons get to see it early)
- process videos/gifs, either of the comic pages, other illustrations, or both
- access to ink versions of the pages (bc i do really like how they look in just ink form, before the colors)
- script access or script commentary? or some kind of commentary to go alongside chapters/scenes? commentary including like. textual analysis from the book, reasons behind my thought process in things I’ve added, changed, or removed, commentary on the art process itself, etc.
Anyway, if any of these sound interesting to you (even if you don’t think you can/want to actually become a Patron), please let me know! Or if you have any other ideas for stuff you’d like to see, I’d be happy to hear!
Anyway. Happy Friday/happy March!
Ahhhh look at Moby Dick's scary jaws! Ouchie!!!
Also, just noticed your change in the wording from "almost fatal encounter" to "fatal encounter" - a small change that helps abridge the text, and also introduces a very interesting nuance! I love the idea of using "fatal" to describe an incident which Ahab survives - it suggests an alternate linguistic sense of "concerning fate," and also implies that, in a way, this encounter DID kill Ahab. It's just taking a while :c
I'm not a patron at the moment, but for the future, I'd be very interested in commentary about adapting and interpreting the book!
ouch indeed!
AND FJFHFHD YEAH YEAH. yeah. yeah.
and good to know! thank you for ur input!!
ohhhh this is an EXCELLENT page,, the movement between Tash's emphatic storytelling, clearly captivating the others, and the movement of the sea and Moby Dick's jaw,, EXCELLENT motion and writing, really awesome job. Also the other comment makes such a good point about the word choice!! that's such a specifically cool detail!!! I'm going to lose my MIND this adaptation is everything T_T
you are so so right about that water... also love how you drew the whale and the blood splash and the teeth DANG it looks soooo cool!!
not a patron but among what you said i think commentary would be really lovely <33 it's always very fun to see what goes through an artist's mind when creating especially for adaptations of existing texts!! also the ink versions sounds cool too :00
AAAAAAAAAA just remembered to check the webcomic page and AAAAA THIS PAGE. SO GOOD
NO WORDS. I WANT TO EAT IT (POSITIVE)
i concur entirely with little fish, that word choice switch is SO GOOD. It's AAAA. and the ART IS SO EVOCATIVE. everyone eagerly listening to tash, and then AHAB. YOU NEVER FAIL TO CAPTURE AHAB'S ENERGY, HES SO... and the WHALR JIMSELF. APOLOGIES FOR THR INCOHERENCE I LOVE THIS PAGE SO MUCH
FDLFAJSDLFJK THANK YOU SO MUCH FRIEND PLS DO NOT APOLOGIZE!!
and yes heheeheh sneak peak of whale Mouth TM. chomp
Oh this is so intense! The way you illustrate the waves and Moby Dick's teeth and the blood and Ahab's desperate clinging to life and raging against him... this is making me feel a lot of things all at once! Absolutely gorgeous and devastating.
i'm so glad!! I'm only here to cause feelings <3
