I seriously love the colours you use and how the backgrounds aren't a solid colour, but large brush strokes that blend together! And the subtle textures with the lighting are so pleasing to look at I can't describe it.
Also, y'all know that old meme/question, Who would win: 1 trillion lions vs. the sun I think of it every time I read Ahab's "strike the Sun" line, to the point where i am going to need to create it. oh! also also thank you for the shout out! that was very kind of you.

I'm reminded of the quote from the Judge in Blood Meridian “The freedom of birds is an insult to me. I'd have them all in zoos". The desire for domination over the vast indifference of the natural world, the need to fit it into small and digestible boxes. It's so quintessentially american imo.

oughhh yeah no that is exactly it -- this very western idea of like .having to dominate the natural world / the wilderness... very strange phenomenon, though not necessarily a modern one (there's simliar stuff even in the bible of like...Conquering the Wilderness TM)...even though the idea of the "wilderness" as unconquered + untouched by humans is a very western + colonial one...
anyway etc etc colonialism/capitalism is the real villain of moby dick etc etc etc
