AAAAA

Peleg apparently thinking that he just met an entire human person named hedgehog is truly an unappreciated moment of comedy

Just caught up...
This is a really interesting and *ambitious* project for a webcomic! I'm excited to see where it goes and how you're adapting and in some ways changing the source material. I've noticed you've changed Quee's speaking style, for example.
Quee's face on the third panel lmao, the struggle of having a non-white name in a white society is real. (Despite this, Queequeg-Quahog-Hedgehog is one of my favorite jokes from the book lol.)

Thank you!
yes, there are a lot of things I’m changing! i’m trying to keep to the spirit of the original book while adding or changing things i feel are important. with queequeg i wanted to get across a more respectful version of someone speaking english as a second language, if that makes sense? rather than melville’s sort of mocking speech patterns.
also i definitely was channeling my inner rage at mispronunciations of my name in queequeg lol! glad that came across

Seeing as you mentioned it: I really appreciate what you're doing with Queequeg's speech. Having to read Queequeg through Melville's made up over-simplified syntax is... frustrating. Here in this version, he's still clearly using an adopted language, but I can reason that it's an adopted language he's been using for a good while now. Like he is canonically supposed to have done.

You perfectly capture Melville’s critique of 19th century christianity meets imperialism meets capitalism plus jokes!
